Laser Dentistry Mississauga

Innovations in laser technology allow our dental professionals at Dr. Arun Narang & Associates to enhance your comfort as well as the quality and outcome of many popular oral treatments. In many cases, laser dentistry can reduce or eliminate the need for intimidating dental equipment—including needles—and the amount of anesthetic necessary to complete a procedure, which may also diminish the recovery time following an invasive technique.

In addition to cosmetic enhancements such as gummy smile correction and crown lengthening, our laser technology can also offer improved results over traditional methods when used to identify cavities or perform gum disease therapy. Our experienced periodontist is committed to providing an exceptional patient experience, and utilizing state-of-the-art dental laser technology is one more way we can achieve that goal.

To learn more about laser dentistry, we have provided the following information about our procedures below. If you have additional questions, or if you would like to schedule a consultation with one of our skilled dentists, please contact us today.

Gummy Smile Correction

If you’re dissatisfied with the appearance of your smile due to excess tissue surrounding your teeth, creating what is called a “gummy smile,” our laser gum recontouring treatment may be right for you.

We can precisely reshape the gumline to make teeth appear larger and gums more even. Our laser technology can also seal the treated area immediately, helping to reduce bleeding and swelling as well as to speed healing.

Laser Gum Therapy

Laser dentistry techniques can be used to help improve your gum health in a variety of ways, including reducing bacteria, treating gingivitis and other stages of periodontal disease, and minimizing discomfort caused by sensitive teeth and gums. Called Laser-Assisted Periodontal Therapy (LAPT) when used to address gum disease, our state-of-the-art procedure can provide deep cleaning and root planing in areas of infection, as well as sterilize the gum pocket to help prevent future reoccurrence of problems. Gum disease can have serious consequences for patients, and studies show that up to 50 percent of adults may experience this condition at some point. Our laser bacterial reduction (LBR) process can help to destroy the dangerous bacteria.

The laser energy can be precisely delivered to the areas that need treatment most, clearing away bacteria from the visible tooth surface and beneath the gumline as well as on the tissue. Remember, untreated gum disease can lead to a range of serious health problems – dramatically increasing the risk of heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and other conditions. Laser gum therapy is a minimally invasive gum disease treatment that is often virtually painless and does not require extensive recovery time.

Crown Lengthening

Available as both a cosmetic and restorative procedure, laser crown lengthening can reshape the gumline to prepare a tooth for the attachment of a dental crown. The recontouring process often allows for a better fit, improved support, and increased symmetry. Additionally, if you have excess gum tissue that results in a “gummy smile,” this treatment can make teeth appear larger for enhanced aesthetic appeal.

Diagnodent Caries Detection

With the aid of our DIAGNOdent diagnostic laser, our dental professionals can identify decay and the development of cavities at their earliest stages. This is a completely painless method of determining whether a dental issue may be forming, and it has a highly accurate rate of detection. As a result, irregularities can be treated sooner, before they develop into a larger problem.
