How Do CEREC® and Lab Crowns Differ?
It’s not uncommon for people to ask what the best choice between two good options is. More often than not, however, the answer will depend on many factors. Our experienced dentists emphasize that this is certainly true with dental crowns. CEREC® one-visit porcelain crowns and laboratory-designed crowns each have a number of benefits, and the right approach for you will be contingent upon a number of variables.
CEREC® same-day porcelain dental crowns are made without any metal, and they can be produced and fitted in one visit. They are designed to be durable and to provide an aesthetically appealing outcome. Laboratory-made crowns can take longer to produce, which means they will require at least one follow-up visit and a temporary crown. However, this method typically achieves a more natural-looking result. Therefore, a lab-created crown may be preferable for the front teeth while a CEREC® crown may be ideal for teeth on the sides and back of the mouth. There are other factors that should be considered as well, and our dentists can provide guidance to help you determine the right dental restoration for your needs and goals.
