One of the most prestigious and well-known dental organizations, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry offers multi-tier memberships dependent upon the level of training and education a dentist has achieved. The AACD maintains a strict set of ethical guidelines to help ensure patients receive superior cosmetic dentistry treatments that are beautiful, long-lasting, and of high-quality.
So much more than simply a title, being an AACD Accreditation Candidate communicates to patients and colleagues that he or she is extensively trained in the latest dental techniques and technology, and that they are committed to providing exceptional care with every treatment. Any dentist can refer to themselves as a “cosmetic dentist.” Far fewer can claim AACD accreditation, and Dr. Narang is proud to be joining them. In addition to being in the process of becoming a member, Dr. Narang also sits on the board, one of five individuals who helps steer the direction of the AACD and preserve the organization’s mission.
Dr. Narang is committed to aesthetic dentistry and has been working since 1984 to provide patients with the best that dentistry has to offer. He believes that restoring a person’s smile and therefore appearance can be a life enhancing experience. “The most important thing is to listen to your patients”, says Dr. Narang. “My goal is to help clients keep their smiles looking their very best and feeling their healthiest.”
Dr. Narang supports numerous local charities. He is also dedicated to assisting victims of domestic violence providing consultation and treatment to individuals who have sustained dental injury as a result of a violent domestic attack. He does this through the AACD’s Give Back a Smile program, a humanitarian enterprise that provides restorative dental treatment to survivors of domestic and sexual violence without charge. As of 2016, the Give Back a Smile program has helped over 1500 people, and continues to offer exceptional care to help people rebuild their lives after suffering tragedy. Dr. Narang is proud to support this cause and to volunteer his time and skill to assisting others in need.
A cosmetic dentist is a dentist who is dedicated to helping patients enhance the appearance of their smiles. Cosmetic dentists are typically trained in performing aesthetic procedures that can improve the overall beauty of the teeth, gums, and mouth. The benefits of cosmetic dentistry go beyond appearances and include increased self-confidence and well-being. A good cosmetic dentist will also take into account the health of a patient’s oral structures, aiming to preserve the quality and structure of the teeth throughout treatment.
Not all cosmetic dentists are the same. Some may be trained in certain procedures and not others, and some may use more conservative, oral health-conscious techniques than others. When considering a cosmetic dentist, you should ask about their education and training—are they staying up to date on the latest safety measures and techniques? Are they members of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry? This prestigious organization has a demanding review process for applicants and emphasizes a patient-first, ethical approach to aesthetic dentistry. The initial consultation is one of the best opportunities to determine if a cosmetic dentist is right for you. You can ask questions, discuss your goals, and find out more about their professional philosophy. Just as important, you can get a feel for who they are. You should be at ease talking to a prospective cosmetic dentist before moving forward with treatment.
To help patients find the right cosmetic dentist for them, we advise asking questions that can tell you more about the prospective dentist’s approach to treatment and training. Some of the questions that may provide useful answers include:
These are just a few examples of questions you can ask. Additionally, you will likely want to discuss your individual dental concerns and desired outcome, and talk about what treatments may be appropriate for your needs and goals. As you go over your options, you will develop a better idea of the prospective dentist’s demeanor and develop a rapport. You want to have a strong, comfortable relationship with any doctor you choose.
